One day, when he was gathering wood, he heard noise of a beast. He hurried to climb up a tree near there. Sitting on the branch of tree, he saw a scene which a beast mother saved beast babies from death with leaves of strange tree. Waiting for herd of beast go away, Cuoi reached the strange tree taking it up home.
On his way, he saw a unconscious old age person on the ground. He thought in his mind :" Why could I try to save him with this magic leaf? ".
He removed some leaves of tree to save him. The old age person was conscious marvellously, he said to the boy :" how do you have this tree? ".
Cuoi said:" I found it near the spring " and Cuoi began to tell him what happened at that time...
The old age man said:" This is a magic banyan tree, it could recover health, you should take care of it carefully, if you water the tree with dirty water, the root of tree will be risen out the ground and the tree will fly into the moon ".
Taking his advice, Cuoi brought the tree home and planted it in the garden. He daily watered the tree with clear water. He cared of it carefully so the tree grew well.
One day, in his village, there was a farmer who had a untreat sick girl. Her father had invited many physicians to cure for her but no one could recover her health. Cuoi came to meet the farmer and said :" Let me try to cure for the girl". The farmer nodded.
Cuoi brought some magic leaves and fed the girl up. No sooner, She became healthy again. The farmer was very surprised at miracle. He felt very happy. Being grateful of Cuoi's help, the farmer gave his daughter in marriage to him.
Cuoi 's wife did housework and cared of all trees in the garden. She worked so hard but She was forgetful. Before going out for work, Cuoi told his wife :" You should care of the banyan tree .If you water the tree with dirty water, the tree will fly into the moon".
However , she forget his advice. while she was caring of trees in the garden, she watered the banyan tree with dirty water. Suddenly, there was a large noise under the ground , the root of tree was rising out the ground. Whole banyan tree flew into the air.
At that time, Cuoi came back home. Seeing the banyan tree in the air, he hurried to run to the tree and hold it. Unfortunately, the banyan tree and Cuoi both flew into the moon...
From then, on lunar day, we could see the image of Cuoi in which he was sitting under the shadow of magic banyan tree on the moon.
